My Favorite Place

There's a lot of the world I haven't seen yet, sad to say. I've never been outside of the lower 48, and I've never been further East than Tennessee. I don't think it'd be fair of me to base a judgement on my favorite place in this world after having only seen and experienced so little of it.
I won't outline my favorite place as a city, or state, or confine it to a zipcode. My favorite place is found almost anywhere - a sanctuary that I know will exist in almost every place I visit.

My favorite place to visit is the woods! I've always loved getting lost in the forest - pine, aspen, oak, elm, beech, ash, and fir. The best part is: there are woods almost anywhere you visit. I'm miles away from Colorado, where this photo was taken, but I still have woods to visit here in Oklahoma.

The above image was taken at Robbers Cave in Eastern Oklahoma. Look at all of those trees! When I went to visit I was overjoyed that there was forest surrounding the famous caves.
Wherever there are trees and greenery, I'm immediately in my happy place. Therefore, anywhere with a forest or woods is my favorite place.

  1. Oh, the woods: I agree, Danni! And what lovely pictures! Where I live now in North Carolina, we are surrounded by acres of trees, and that makes me (and our cats) very happy. Watching the seasons signaled by the changes in the trees is just wonderful. Even when I look at out at the bare trees during this time of year, I know they are going to do their spring miracle and turn all green for me when that time comes! As you can guess, so much of the world's mythology and folklore involves trees and the magic of forests, so maybe you can find a forest project to work on! You can search Sacred Texts for stories about trees, including subsearches, like Native American trees. So many great stories!

  2. Danni,
I'm with ya, girl! I secretly want to be a trail guide for my career. Maybe one day! Woods are so refreshing. I think to me what's so wonderful about the woods is that no matter what I could never create in such a way. You know what I mean? I can barely use colored pencils to draw on paper... much less create the object that paper is made out of! Just crazy! Also, the names of trees are my fave. I want to name my son Oak and daughter Aspen (God-willing I have children, of course!). Anyway... Cool read. Cool pics. Cool gal!

  3. I've already commented on your introduction, so I wanted to see what your favirote places were. There is just something so special in being connected with nature. I love that you said you couldn't fairly pick a place because you haven't been all over the world. The forest is so beautiful! The trees. The fresh air. It's so wonderful. I love the picture you included of Colorado. It captures some of their beauty.
